With Easter just around the corner, it’s a perfect time to indulge your sweet tooth and tuck into chocolate this weekend.
To help you decide where to get your fix, we’ve compiled a list of some of best chocolate shops in and around Hertfordshire.
1. The Secret Truffletier, Woolmer Green
This uniquely-named establishment has specialised in all things chocolate since 1911.
Boasting an impressive 4.7 score on Google reviews, they provide both eat in and takeaway chocolates as well as the ability to order as a gift if you want to surprise a special someone this Easter. Its opening hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and it will be open on Good Friday until 3.30pm.
2. Yvette’s Chocolates, Berkhamsted
Located in Potten End, Yvette’s Chocolates possesses a perfect 5-star rating on Google reviews and provides a variety of chocolate based services, including hand crafted and affordable Easter eggs, perfect for the big weekend.
The store is open from 10am to 5pm, every Tuesday from Tuesday to Saturday.
3. Hotel Chocolat, St Albans
One of the most famous names in the confectionary world, Hotel Chocolat provide luxury (but pricey!) chocolate goodies at a range of locations across Hertfordshire, but according to reviews, St Albans boasts the best branch, with a 4.7 Google score.
Located in the Maltings shopping centre, Hotel Chocolat is open from 9.30am until 5pm every day with a later opening time on Sundays.
4. Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shop, Hertford
For a retro feel this Easter, Mr Simms sweet shop provides a range of sweets and chocolates in a nostalgic setting. Their Hertford branch has a 4.8 star Google review rating and is open from 10am until 5.15pm every day.
5. The Cake Hole, Hitchin
If cakes are more your thing, The Cake Hole may be the place for you. It claims to provide “the best chocolate cakes in Hertfordshire” and sell a variety of cupcakes and celebration cakes, as well as artisan chocolates.
Located a stones throw from St Mary's Church, they are open every day from 9.30am until 5pm, closing an hour earlier on Sundays.

6. Knoops, St Albans
If you prefer your chocolate hot and in liquid form, Knoops promises “expertly crafted chocolate drinks”.
They also provide milkshakes, mochas and iced chocolate along with soft-serve ice cream. With long opening hours (Monday to Sunday 7.30am until 8pm), it’s a perfect place to indulge yourself before or after work.
7. Ladds, Royston
Ladds boasts that it can sate even the sweetest of tooth with an impressive array of Belgian chocolates, perfect for treating yourself during the long weekend.
They also offer both gluten free and vegan options. Located on Royston High Street, Ladds is open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday through Saturday but is closed on Sundays.
