A man has been left with serious injuries after he was stabbed in the chest in Welwyn Garden City last night.
The victim was attacked at around 7.15pm in Hall Grove, and sustained stab wounds to his arm and chest. He suffered serious injuries, but they are deemed not life threatening.
Officers quickly arrived at the scene, gathering evidence through the night and into the early hours of the morning.
Detective Inspector Bianca Broadbent, of the Welwyn Hatfield Local Crime Unit, who is leading the investigation, was quick to reassure residents but is also keen to find out any information that may help their enquiries.
"We are appealing to anyone who might have seen this incident take place and equally anyone who saw anything suspicious in the time leading up to, or after, the attack," she said.

"I would like to thank everyone who has assisted police so far with this enquiry and would like to reassure communities that detectives and Neighbourhood Officers are working around the clock to provide reassurance and to piece together information being passed to us, but we would encourage anyone with further information to report this, as it may be vital to our investigation."
Police also believe that a nearby tyre slashing incident may be linked, with Det Insp Broadbent adding: "It has also been reported that someone slashed tyres of vehicles in the Little Gannett and Great Gannett area, and we think this may be linked.
"If you witnessed anyone doing this, please also get in touch. If you were in the area at the time and potentially have dash cam footage or have doorbell cameras or CCTV at home the police would welcome the opportunity to have access to the footage."
