A 103-year-old woman from Woolmer Green has revealed 'keeping busy' as the secret to her long life.
Marjorie Broadhurst, who resides at Care UK Knebworth in London Road, celebrated the landmark birthday on February 11, surrounded by family and friends.
As well as keeping busy, she believes her family have helped her live such a long life, and that her motto for life is "seeing my family grow".
Reflecting on the day, Marjorie added: "I enjoyed spending time with my family – I loved all the gifts, cards, flowers and chocolates I received."
Marjorie was born in Cheshire in 1921, and lived in Timperley, Greater Manchester, for many years before moving into Care UK Knebworth at the age of 98.
In her younger years, Marjorie worked in a local flower shop, and during the Second World War, she helped test parts for aeroplanes.
In 1945, Marjorie married her husband, Ronald, who she had met at school. Together, the couple have two sons, Roger and Dan, as well as five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, whom she credits as being the source of her long and fulfilling life.
"We’re all incredibly privileged to have Marjorie as part of the Knebworth family. Happy birthday," added Daniel Grab, home manager at Care UK Knebworth.
