American media personality Kim Kardashian has recommended watching new Netflix romantic drama One Day if you want "a good cry".

Scenes of the Netflix series based on David Nicholls' bestselling book were filmed on location in Hertfordshire, at Benington Lordship Gardens and Hatfield House.

Without giving away any series spoilers, One Day tells the story of Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew who, on 15th July 1988, speak for the very first time at their graduation.

Starring Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall in the lead roles, each of the 14 episodes of the limited series finds Dex and Em one year older, on St Swithin's Day, as they grow and change, move together and apart, experience joy and heartbreak.

Millions worldwide have already watched the bittersweet love story on the streaming site, including global icon Kim Kardashian.

The 43-year-old celebrity, socialite and businesswoman posted on social media that the series is perfect if you want "a good cry".

Updating her 364 million followers today on Instagram Stories, the social media phenomenon described One Day as "kinda slow", but told her fans it's "worth sticking through".

After Instagram Stories posts about The Kardashians winning the 'Reality Show of the Year' at the People's Choice Awards yesterday (Sunday) and Khloé Kardashian also picking up the 'Reality TV Star of the Year' accolade, Kim Kardashian went on to praise Netflix's One Day in a subsequent post.

She wrote: "And if u need a show... One Day on @netflix. Kinda slow but worth sticking through because the end"

This was followed by two crying emojis, and then the words "if I want a good cry".

Ambika Mod, who grew up in Potters Bar and plays Emma in the Netflix series, shared a screengrab of Kim Kardashian's Instagram post to her own Instagram Stories, with an expletive exclamation.

Two episodes of the decades-spanning love story based on the worldwide bestseller by David Nicholls were filmed on location in Hertfordshire.

Eagle-eyed Netflix viewers will recognise Benington Lordship Gardens in episode nine of One Day, when Dex visits his girlfriend's parents at their family estate.

The following episode features the wedding of Emma's university friend Tilly, played by Amber Grappy.

Tilly and Graham's wedding was filmed in St Etheldreda's Church in Old Hatfield, with the reception then shot inside the historic Old Palace at Hatfield House.

All episodes of One Day are available now to stream on Netflix.
