Welwyn Garden City Male Voice Choir (WGCMVC) has helped form a pop-up charity choir to raise money for research into prostate cancer.

Men United in Song will be a 40-man choir, who will rehearse several songs over a nine-week period from early March.

They will then perform at public concerts in Hertfordshire and a gala concert in May at the Albert Hall, Nottingham.

Alisdair Skinner, chair of WGCMVC, said: "It doesn’t matter if the last time you sang was at school, we can help you achieve your best.

"You'll have the satisfaction of fulfilling a new challenge, learning together with other members of Men United in Song."

Weekly rehearsals will take place in Hatfield over the nine-weeks, led by professional music director Cassandra List.

"Men United in Song will be challenging, but when you are singing at the gala concert with 400 men, the sense of accomplishment will be immense," Cassandra said.

This is not the first time WGCMVC has sponsored a pop-up choir - as in 2018 they raised more than £6,000 with Men's Voices United.

Men interested in joining Men United in Song can drop into introductory sessions in late February in Hatfield, Hertford and Welwyn Garden City, with details available by searching online for 'WGCMVC'.

Proceeds from ticket sales and donations will go to Prostate Cancer UK.
