Hello to rabbit fan readers,
While we didn't arrive together at Southridge we are now inseparable, devoted friends and are definitely seeking our forever bunny home together.
Who can resist us - this dynamic and charming duo who will bring joy, fun and interest to your lives?
Below are our stories - which we are sure will send you running to contact Southridge to arrange to meet us.
Travis's tale so far:
Almost exactly two years ago, I was discovered in a perilous and dangerous situation for a vulnerable animal, lost and alone.
Was I abandoned? Who knows? All I remember is being in a strange garden and then coming to live at Southridge.
My handsome dark brown and white markings define me as a Dutch crossbreed.
I am a neutered male, between three and four years of age. I have great charm, and am very excited when I see my carers and happily hop over for tasty titbits and a gentle stroke.
However, with my strong personality I can be a bit of a feisty chap who much prefers to keep all four feet firmly on the ground, so if you expect a cuddly bunny you're out of luck, and I will give you a warning growl if you overstep the mark!
With time and patience my confidence will grow, but I jam not used to being handled. After all, any of us would react to situations we find scary.
Pearl's journey so far:
My arrival at the centre was very traumatic. With two bunny friends, I was abandoned at the gates of Southridge in mid-2021.
One of my companions was adopted, but sadly last year my other friend passed away which is when Travis and I were introduced.
I am a pretty spayed female albino Dwarf Lop, around three-and-a-half years old, with a sweet, kind and curious character.
Being an inquisitive bunny, I am always busy checking out what is going on around me.
I love to "assist" my carers in their daily hutch work when they come to spruce up our home.
I am gentle and quite cuddly, enjoying a stroke and a scratch while taking a tasty treat of my favourite greens from a generous hand, but like Travis and most rabbits I prefer to sit beside you and keep my paws on solid ground.
From Us Both:
So now you have heard a little about us, what do you think?
We have been waiting for so long for our forever home and want it to be absolutely that: FOREVER.
It seems so hard now for bunnies to find homes and although we are happy here, we need to move on to pastures new so we can put down roots and form a bond with our own family.
We would be happy to live in a family with older (14 years plus) children, ideally who have had rabbits before.
We are litter trained, so would make marvellous house rabbits, as long as you can provide us with the stimulation and enrichment we need to fulfil our natural instincts for foraging and digging. We are however, used to the outdoors.
We must have an enclosure of a minimum size of 2m x 3m x 1m high, although we are currently used to much more space and have access to a large grassy area, so would appreciate some daily free range time too as we love to graze, run, frolic and "binky" around.
So what do you think? Hopefully our CV is to your liking. We can't wait to meet you with a hop and a snuffle.
