The owner of a new coffee pod in Welwyn Garden City has opened on his first few months in business after making a "complete career change".
Jason Coughlan launched Rambino's in December last year, with his van currently set up outside the Ridgeway Academy Sports Centre in Herns Lane.
The new business represents a real challenge for Jason, who told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: "Having worked within the community with families and children in primary schools, I thought I'd really like to continue that and utilise my already established network.
"An opportunity arose at Ridgeway Academy and I thought why not take advantage.
"Coffee is completely new to me so it was a complete career change, but something I needed and saw as a challenge."
Jason had plenty of work to do before launching late last year, but he got some much-help from Hull-based company The Big Coffee, which helped find a pod for him.
"The pod was just a shell when we started and we worked together on everything, including the logo, colour scheme and machinery inside the pod."
The name and logo of Rambino's is inspired by, and pays tribute to, family dog Rambo, who sadly passed away in 2021.
"We had a family dog called Rambo which we wanted to incorporate within the name of our new business," Jason revealed.
"Rambo sadly passed away in 2021 which hit us hard, so the logo is a tribute to him really. We wanted a story behind the name, and logo, and this is ours."
Despite being in business a little more than two months, things have been going well for Rambino's, with Jason having big plans for the future.
"Starting in December, on the lead up to Christmas, is always hard, but we are happy to see repeat customers each week with some great feedback not only on the pod itself, but also the quality of the coffee and products we deliver to our customers," he said.
"Now that we have made a good start we want to push on to make plans for the change in weather by offering some cold alternatives and possibly some snack items too.
"We'd really like to get into some festivals, school fetes, summer tournaments and maybe even weddings."
