Dignitaries and residents in Welwyn Hatfield attended a Holocaust Memorial Day service to remember victims of genocide.
The service was held on Thursday, January 25 - two days before Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27, which is the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1945.
The theme for this year is 'fragility of freedom', which reflects on the challenges faced by millions of people around the world who suffer from prejudice, discrimination and hostility because of their identity.
Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield Cllr Pankit Shah welcomed people to the service, followed by words from Vice Lord-Lieutenant Anthony Chapman, vice-chair of Welwyn Hatfield Youth Council Ava Mohammad Aghaei and Wendy Lidgate from Welwyn Hatfield Interfaith Group.
There was also a one-minute silence and prayers from Welwyn Hatfield Jewish Congregation.
