More than 1,000 reports of flooding and fallen trees have now been received in Hertfordshire, following the impact of Storm Henk.
The reports were received by Hertfordshire County Council, following wind and heavy rain from Tuesday (January 2) onwards.
This included a fallen tree on the Welwyn Bypass Road, damage to businesses in Hitchin and flooding on the A414 and A1081 near St Albans.
Reports of structural damage to a sign at Hitchin's Kwik-Fit were made, while the A602 near Stevenage remained closed until Wednesday afternoon (Wednesday, January 3).
"Major" delays were also reported across the Thameslink train network, with delays of up to 90 minutes announced.
At the time, Hertfordshire County Council confirmed that work on A and B roads will be prioritised.
Emergency road closures and "traffic management measures" would be put in place, so that workers are able to safely complete their work.
The council asked residents for patience, as the clear-up operation continues.
Later in the week, the rainfall was not as severe but the council still received 127 reports of flooding, with hotspots in the Hemel Hempstead and Hertford areas
Despite dryer and cooler conditions expected over the weekend and into next week, the local authority has confirmed that its clean-up operation will continue "well into next week".
Cllr Phil Bibby said: “Our teams on the ground have responded brilliantly to the challenges this week’s bad weather has thrown at us.
"They have been working around the clock clearing fallen trees and drains to help keep Hertfordshire moving.
