Changes to the way rubbish is collected in Welwyn Hatfield are set to be trialled.
From Monday, December 11, residents can place extra cardboard next to their blue-lidded bins, and it will still be collected.
To be collected, the cardboard must be flattened and neatly stacked next to the blue-lidded bin on the normal recycling day.
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council are also asking residents to continue using all the available room in their blue-lidded bins, with only excess recycling stacked outside them.

The council decided to trial the scheme after seeing an increase in the amount of cardboard waste requiring collection. It is hoped that by collecting excess cardboard, residents will have to make fewer trips to and from recycling centres.
Cllr Sandreni Bonfante, executive member for environment, said: “We’re pleased to be trialling extra cardboard collections, particularly over Christmas when people have more cardboard to recycle.
"As we all know, recycling reduces the amount of waste that ends up at landfills, so we encourage residents to take advantage of the collections. We are keen to get feedback regarding this service.
"Residents can contact us by calling 01707 357 000 or emailing contact-whc@welhat.gov.uk ”
A decision on whether to make the trial permanent will be made in the new year.
