'Fantastical Christmas Revels', an exhibition inspired by the rich Tudor Heritage at Hatfield Park, has opened thanks to a collaboration with the stately home and CLW Event Design.
The CLW Event Design team are a collective of theatrical practitioners, designers and artists whose extensive experience have earned them a national reputation for delivering outstanding visitor experiences.
“We wanted to create something entirely bespoke to Hatfield Park, something which hadn’t been done before," said Chris Hurcomb, head of operations at Hatfield Park.
"Our history and heritage are so unique, we really wanted to bring this alive for our visitors. Our Christmas offering is the perfect opportunity for the team to work alongside a partner to create a special experience right from the beginning.
“When we met Charlotte and her team we were happy to start working with them immediately – they completely understood our values, what we wanted, and exactly how they could use the beautiful backdrops and historical settings in their final creations.”
The new Christmas experience at Hatfield Park this year is a journey through nine installations, designed to bring the unique Tudor heritage to life, and is suitable for guests of all ages.
As you arrive at the Stable Yard, you will receive an exclusive invitation, along with a guide to the experience, as Queen Elizabeth I herself would have sent you.
Make your way through Palace Green where you will find our Secret Garden Door, the unassuming entrance to the experience.
The Royal Frieze, to your right, depicts the Queen and her courtiers, our inspiration for Fantastical Revels. To your right you will see a grouping of seasonal greenery sculptures, depicting the courtiers in the frieze, greeted by the Queen herself.
As you wander through the Lime Walk, you will see the Mighty Stag and Boar installations.
Make the most of a festive photo opportunity at the Wassailing Feast, an installation designed as a fusion of two traditions, the Twelfth Night feast and the blessing of the fruit trees for good harvest.
After visiting all of the exhibits, guest are invited to make their way back to the Stable Yard to continue the festivities, with food and drink, decorations, mulled wine, music and carols on some evenings.
Adrian Lillie, design director at CLW Event Design, added: “We have very much enjoyed working with the Hatfield Park team, we especially appreciate their collaborative way of working.”
The show is open from now until from Sunday, December 31.
