Brookmans Park Golf Club has produced honey from its own hives thanks to the help of two professional beekeepers.
Last September the club installed six beehives in an area of designated ancient woodland on the course, known as Round Wood.
On Tuesday, October 31, one of the beekeepers - Terry Davis - visited the club to give members and their guests a presentation on beekeeping and honey production.
Terry also unveiled the first batch of Brookmans Park Golf Club Round Wood honey, produced from the hives, which members could take home after the lecture.
During his presentation, Terry explained the history of beekeeping and how it has changed over the years, and told the audience how each hive has around 10,000 bees in the winter and 70,000 in the summer.

The audience were able to look at the modern protective clothing worn by beekeepers and see how wax and honey are produced, with the output from bees used to make lip balm, candles and the honey itself.
As production increases, the golf club hopes to sell the honey to Brookmans Park residents.
In conjunction with Brookmans Park Rotary, the golf club's next event is a comedy evening on Friday, November 17 in aid of Noah's Ark Children's Hospice.
Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start, with tickets available on the club's website.
