CAMRA has launched its Good Beer Guide 2024, with a host of pubs across Welwyn Hatfield making the prestigious list.

The Campaign for Real Ale group launched the 51st edition of the guide on September 28, with 5 of our fine establishments making the list.

1. Horse and Groom – Hatfield

An historic Grade II listed building in Old Hatfield, CAMRA praised both the food and drink at the Horse and Groom.

"It serves up to six real ales, with beer festivals held during the year. Tuesday is Sausage & Mash night – purchase an ale for a free portion," reads the guide.

2. Lytton Arms – Knebworth

The 19th century pub is adjacent to the majestic Knebworth Estate, and CAMRA were big fans of the village spot.

"Four house beers are supplemented by a changing mix from regional breweries and micros," reads the guide.

"Good home-made food is available every day. Live music features on Friday evenings. Outside is an attractive decked patio and garden."

3. The Station – Knebworth

After closing back in 2017, The Station was saved from development in 2020 by a campaign group, and is now owned by the parish council.

Since then, it has gone from strength to strength, with CAMRA praising its range of beers and ales, as well as its "delicious food".

4. The Admiral Byng – Potters Bar

A Wetherspoons branch named in honour of Admiral John Byng - who was exectuted in 1757 for letting Minorca fall to the French - CAMRA liked the pub's beer selection.

The Admiral Byng offers eight changing beers and "a good choice of real cider".

5. The Plough – Datchworth

A single-bar free house on the edge of Datchworth, CAMRA are big fans of The Plough.

"Sporting an ever-changing selection of real ales, this is a real locals’ pub at the hub of the village and all are made to feel welcome," reads the guide.
