The Digswell Place Group Riding for Disabled Association got a very special visit from Anne, The Princess Royal, as they celebrated their 50th anniversary.
The Princess Royal met with the group's volunteers - including co-founders Sue Jenkins and her mother Pat - and heard how the charity grew from two borrowed ponies to helping up to 100 people every week with purpose built facilities.
As President of Riding for the Disabled Association, Princess Anne presented ponies Albert and Freia with long service awards in recognition of their dedicated service with the equine team at Digswell.

She also presented commemorative rosettes and unveiled a plaque to commemorate her visit, as well as watching riders taking part in drill display and speaking to those who benefit from the group's work.
"It was a proud occasion for all of us, marking our 50th year in such a special way and sharing with The Princess Royal and County dignitaries, the wonderful community that makes Digswell Place so special for everyone involved," Sue Clarke, chair of trustees at the Digswell Place Group Riding for Disabled Association.
The group aims to provide riding opportunities to children and adults with disabilities across Welwyn Hatfield, relying entirely on fundraising, 130 volunteers and 14 horses and ponies to deliver the service.
