Oak Hill Lawn Cemetery and Crematorium has been awarded the Green Flag, officially recognising it as one of the country’s best green spaces.
The Green Flag Award scheme recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the United Kingdom.
The site in Hatfield has seen plenty of work done in recent years, with the new crematorium set to open in September, and that effort has now been recognised.

"Oak Hill is a very special place, and we are delighted that we will soon be able to provide a wider range of cremation and burial options to meet the needs of our communities," said Cllr Max Holloway, executive member for community and leisure at Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.
Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award scheme manager, Paul Todd added: "I would like to congratulate everyone involved at Oak Hill in achieving a Green Flag Award.
"Oak Hill is a vital green space for the community in Welwyn Hatfield and staff do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award.
"Everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement."
