A "very special" dog, who has been at the RSPCA's Southridge Animal Centre for more than a year, is hoping to find a loving new home.
Apollo, a four-year-old American Bulldog, has been at the shelter in Potters Bar since 2022, after being rescued from a difficult life that has led to him being very nervous.
He would need an adult-only home with kind and patient adopters, who are willing to give him the support and help he needs to grow his confidence and trust.
While staff at Southridge are desperate to see Apollo find a new home, he is a much-loved resident and one they will be sad to see go.
"He is a firm favourite with staff and volunteers. He absolutely loves to be around people and thrives on attention and cuddles," RSPCA volunteer Caroline Boydell.

"He has a big soft heart and greets staff and volunteers with a huge grin and a waggy tail.
"He would therefore like a home with someone who can be with him most of the day, although he can be left for short periods with toys to amuse him and keep him occupied.
"He has a calm manner and while a big strong boy, he is very well behaved when walking on lead.
"Apollo will pay you back in spades for taking him into your family. He is a very special boy - just waiting for a family to love."

According to the RSPCA, Apollo "likes letting off steam when he and his dog-walking volunteer go into the Southridge RSPCA's large compound, where he can run and explore", and he is "generally happy to be around other dogs, however at times he decides he is not keen on one of his canine friends - meaning he would like a home where he is the only animal".
