Isabel Hospice is seeking a dynamic individual with retail experience at a senior level to join the Board of Isabel Hospice Trading Ltd.
The Welwyn Garden City-based hospice is looking to appoint a voluntary independent director to provide specialist high-level advice and insight to identify and deliver vision and strategy.
The appointment will also oversee the delivery of plans that enable the maximisation of profits for the trading company of the charity.
Isabel Hospice currently have 15 shops across eastern Hertfordshire, with plans to open additional shops, as well as a successful eBay operation with 25,000 followers, and online platforms across Vinted and Depop.
All income from the trading company, post operational costs, contribute towards the Hospice, which supports people with life-limiting conditions and their families across Welwyn Hatfield, eastern Hertfordshire and Broxbourne.
During 2022/23, 1,797 people were supported.
Alongside this, Isabel Hospice shops support the circular economy by promoting slow fashion and sustainable shopping.

Isabel Hospice CEO Helen Glenister said: “We want to see a world where communities talk openly about death and dying, live well for as long as possible, and die with dignity in the place of their choice knowing their loved ones are supported.
“Our team comprises more than 170 staff and 565 volunteers and, like most Hospices, we rely on the support of our local communities and the income generated from numerous fundraising activities and our network of charity shops to generate more than 65% of our income.
"This will need to continue to grow as we seek to extend our service to support even more people.
“You will be using your retail skills and experiences, and way of thinking to guide the direction of the Trading Board through exciting times, providing oversight and governance, contributing to our strategic direction and acting as an ambassador for all aspects of our work.
"The Trading Board is responsible for ensuring the delivery of the Hospice’s retail objectives, providing strategic leadership and governance, and ensuring our organisation is well managed and administered. The role will be rewarding; some employers encourage and enable voluntary work as part of wider career development and corporate social responsibility.”
