Representatives of Gosling Sports Park are hoping to bring in some "much needed" funding to "bring some life back into it", with the help of the council.
In order to secure the future of Gosling Park, and bring back young members, affiliates Herts Phoenix Athletics Club hope to encourage the council to provide funds to "bring it out of disrepair".
Phil Rizzo from Herts Phoenix said: "Once COVID came along, it put a stop to everything, and I don't think we have really recovered from that.

"In Welwyn, the anti-social behaviour has gone up quite a bit from what it used to be, so we need a place for young people more than ever now.
"So, I invited some councillors to come down and see what it's like and find out what they can do for us to help bring it back to life."
Phil believes Gosling Sports Park has not been of "much importance" in recent years and making improvements and bringing in more children will help show the council and community that it is a much-needed part of the county.
He added: "We need some sort of security and funding to bring it back to what it used to be.
"The seating area has been condemned, there might be asbestos, the throwing cage needs to be replaced, we don't have pole vault anymore and there are other changes needed but it wouldn't take that much."

Phil added that Herts Phoenix, Welwyn Wheelers and few other clubs make use of the velodrome cycling tracks, but prior to COVID multiple schools used to hire it out, and they do not anymore.
The Herts Phoenix spokesperson said: "To make another centre like Gosling Sports Park will cost so much money. It would be unbelievable.
"Whereas it wouldn't take as much money to bring it back up to standard for everyone to use."
Phil invited a number of Welwyn Hatfield councillors to come down to the track this week to view its facilities and see what can be done to help improve its amenities and make it a key part of the community once again.
