From a "little independent movie" to Best Feature Film 2023 nominee - a Welwyn Garden City-based filmmaker is "surprised" to be up against many popular movies.

The film, 'Wolf Garden', is 90-minutes long - with Wayne David directing and starring as the lead actor.

The National Film Academy announced the nominees featuring a line-up of talented individuals and an array of films and TV series.

Wolf Garden will be going up against many popular films at the National Film Awards, such as The Menu, Bank of Dave and The Hitmen, among others.

The movie was released in April in the UK and in March in the US.

Wolf Garden was shot in a number of locations in the area including Digswell, Welwyn and Tewin, where Wayne grew up.

According to Wayne, the self-funded movie is "not your typical monster movie, but it is more psychological - so hopefully that's what makes it stand out more."

Speaking about being nominated for the prestigious award, Wayne said: "The nomination was completely unexpected, so it was a nice surprise to find out about it.

"It's great to be nominated alongside some excellent films and an honour for our little independent movie that this has happened."
