Drugs were found at the scene of a crash in Welwyn Garden City yesterday after a car overturned.

Officers were called at around 6pm on Monday, following reports of a single-vehicle collision in Stanborough Park.

A white Volkswagen Polo was found on its roof, with the driver and a passenger remaining at the scene.

The driver, a 30-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug, before being issued a community resolution order.

"Police were called on Monday, May 22, at around 6pm, following reports of a single-vehicle, damage-only road traffic collision in Stanborough Park in Welwyn Garden City," read a statement from Herts police.

"A white Volkswagen Polo was found on its roof by officers.

"The driver and a passenger remained at the scene.

"The driver, a 30-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug, de-arrested and issued with a community resolution order."

According to the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, "a person who has been arrested under any act of law at a place other than a police station" can be de-arrested "before reaching a police station if a constable is satisfied that there are no grounds for keeping them under arrest".
