The Conservatives no longer have majority control over Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council on an history election results day.
Voters went to the polls yesterday, with results counted and revealed at Campus West in Welwyn Garden City today.
The Tories lost four seats, taking their members from 26 to 22, losing their majority and making the council no overall control.
It was an historic outcome, as this is only the second time since 2002 that the Conservative have not had overall control of WHBC - with there also being no overall control between 2019 and 2021.
There was delight for Labour who now have 12 seats, up from 10, having gained three from the Tories but losing one to the Liberal Democrats, who had a day to remember of their own.
The yellow party also gained two seats, taking their members to 14 as their popularity in Welwyn Hatfield continues to grow.
With 26 seats between them, Labour and the Lib Dems could now form a coalition to take overall control of the council, with members of both parties confirming to Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council that talks have already taken place.
