The campaign leader of Clean Up Hatfield has been left “disappointed” after seeing multiple overflowing bins in the area.
Marian Hurle noticed that bins in Hatfield have been left overflowing for over a week in various areas, such as Oxhey Woods, Woods Avenue, by Onslow St Audrey's School, and at the edge of Stream Woods.

“Bins around Hatfield have been left overflowing for over a week. A friend who reported one that was overflowing was told it would be emptied in three days - by which time the litter that was in it would be all over the place.
“I led the Clean Up Hatfield campaign in April and thought how much better the town looked thanks to all the volunteers who helped with litter picks. To now find that the few litter bins we do have are being left for weeks without being emptied. It is disappointing to say the least.
“I would rate this service as unsatisfactory and definitely needing improvement.”
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council said: “The details of these roads have been passed back to our contractor Urbaser who returned this morning to collect the bins.
"We did not have any reports of overflowing bins at these locations, and we do urge anyone to report an overflowing litter bin by calling 01707 357000 or going to the website at welhat.gov.uk/rubbish-recycling/missed-bins.
Marian added: “Please can the bins be emptied more frequently. It is depressing having done a town wide clean up with volunteers to find that the council and their contractors aren't keeping the bins emptied.

“I think litter from overfull bins is a significant factor in the town at present. They need to be emptied more frequently at weekends and especially over Bank Holidays when people are out and about. Sadly, I think that is the time they are least likely to be emptied.”
