Hertfordshire: 5 Halal restaurants to mark the end of Ramadan

During the holy month of Ramadan many Muslims across the community fast from dawn until sunset. 

The fast came to an end after the sighting of the moon was announced last night.  

Eid is a major holiday celebrated by Muslims all over the globe. 

Traditionally, Eid prayers begin at sunset on the night the crescent moon is first sighted, but many mosques will offer to do Eid prayers the following morning. 

After prayer, Muslims visit their family and friends to wish them a happy Eid, and often exchange gifts or sweets to celebrate. 

We've compiled a list of some of the best Halal restaurants to enjoy the breaking of the fast. 

1. Turkish Kitchen

Turkish Kitchen in Parkhouse Court, Hatfield, is an authentic Turkish restaurant that serves a wide variety of delicious mezes, juicy grilled meats, fish and vegetarian dishes all day long. 

On TripAdvisor, the restaurant is the fourth best rated restaurant out of 52 in Hatfield. 

One commenter on TripAdvisor said: "Very friendly and welcoming staff. Delicious food, fresh, tasty and a decent amount. Gorgeous on the inside with a warm vibe." 

2. Red Indian Restaurant

Red Indian Restaurant in Wigmores North, Welwyn Garden City serves Asian and Bangladeshi food. 

The restaurant offers multiple Halal options for everyone to enjoy. 

On TripAdvisor, the restaurant is the second-best rated restaurant out of 47 in Welwyn Garden City. 

One commenter said: "Value for money! Delicious food at a nice place with an interesting theme! Set menus on a budget! Friendly and kind staff." 

3. Ayo's Restaurant

Ayo's Restaurant in Beaconsfield Road, St Albans is an authentic Kurdish and Turkish restaurant. 

The restaurant offers many Halal dishes, such as Falafel, Adana Kofte, Chicken Kofte, Ezmeli Kebab Lamb, and more. 

On TripAdvisor, the restaurant has a 4.5 rating where one commenter said: "Really lovely evening at Ayos. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious - really fresh and flavoursome. Mojitos were great too! Pleasantly surprised to see how busy it was on a Wednesday night - a sign of the quality of food." 

4. Misya Meze and Grill

Misya Meze and Grill is in both Parkway, Welwyn Garden City and High Street, Stevenage. 

Both the Turkish restaurants are highly rated with a 4.5 rating in WGC and a 4.6 rating in Stevenage.  

The restaurant offers kebabs, burgers, Musakka, and many other dishes.

One commenter on TripAdvisor said: "Great spot in the old town of Stevenage. I went with a large business group of about 40+ people, so never easy with this number, but the restaurant coped well, and the food was authentic and delicious."

On TripAdvisor, the restaurant is rated in the top 12 best Quick Bites in Hitchin. 

Four weeks ago, a commenter said: "Great food. Excellent service. Highly recommend. Always have fresh food. Very helpful staff. Banging spicy wings."
