A grant of almost £3 million has been awarded to Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, which will help some council tenants save hundreds on their fuel bills.
The Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund grant has been awarded by the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero.
This, alongside an additional £2 million investment from the council, will enable work to improve energy efficiency in homes across the borough.

Cllr Samuel Kasumu, executive member for environment and climate change, said: "It’s good news for those struggling with the rising cost of living, and good news for the whole of Welwyn Hatfield as we continue to cut carbon emissions on our way to being a net zero borough."
The investment will ensure that nearly 200 properties are insulated up to a minimum band C EPC rating.

The aim is to reduce the fuel bills of tenants in these properties while reducing the carbon emissions of these homes by over 1.5 metric tonnes per year.
Cllr Fiona Thomson, the council’s executive member for housing, said: "Today’s announcement is fantastic news for the hundreds of tenants whose fuel bills will be reduced significantly at a time when costs have rocketed.”
