A boutique women's clothing store in Welwyn is set to close after almost 20 years of business, following the "devastating impact" of the COVID-19 pandemic and the cost of living crisis.
SuSu Style, in the village's High Street, opened in 2004, but has been hit hard by the events of recent years.
In a statement on Facebook, the business confirmed it would be closing later this year, most likely in April, blaming the pandemic and "the worst fall in living standards since the Second World War".
"We are sorry to share the news that SuSu is closing," read the post.
"We are very proud that we were able to keep the shop going through the pandemic and during a very difficult economic time, offering colour, style and a warm welcome to hundreds of women, and employment too for the great SuSu team of women.
"However the devastating impact the pandemic, subsequent lockdowns and then the worst fall in living standards since the Second World War have taken its toll on retail businesses like SuSu.

"Not only has the economy changed, but so too have people's shopping habits, with much more online purchasing now happening.
"This too has a very direct and negative impact on local businesses. If you have a favourite store or business, please use it and help support the kind of community you want to live in.
"Everything in the store is now on sale. All brand new lovely spring stock is 20 per cent off and many other items reduced by up to 60 per cent.
"If you have enjoyed shopping at SuSu over the past 20 years, please do one final thing for us, come shop and help us sell everything before we close.

"We have lots of lovely things so this is your chance to pick up some great bargains and help support us one last time."
SuSu has become a popular store in the Welwyn area and has more than 1,000 followers on Facebook, with plenty left saddened by the news of its closure.
