"It is an honour to have been selected as the Labour parliamentary candidate for my home constituency," he said.

David Richards dies

David Richards, a former boss of the Dreamboys stripper group and an ex-Welwyn resident, has died in prison after being jailed for trying to murder his wife with an axe.

The 42-year-old was given a 27-year sentence in January after fracturing Alex Alam's skull in a carefully planned attack, following the breakdown of their relationship, but he was found dead at HMP Lowdham Grange on March 13.

A cause of death has not been given.

Richards was a former stripper with the Dreamboys group, before going on to manage them in 2013, and used to live in The Avenue, Welwyn.

Herts Sweets opened in Unit 10A at the Tewin Road Business Centre last weekend, with the business offering pick 'n' mix, imported sweets, snacks and drinks.

Run by partners Dan Pickett and Kay Willson, the business was made popular by TikTok and started after Kay was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

"It started because I brought her some sweets and she wasn't the biggest sweet lover but it made her smile that day," said Dan.

"So, she said, if you've managed to make me smile with sweets, how many others can we make smile."
