Plans to improve safety for walking and cycling routes in Woolmer Green and Oaklands, particularly for schoolchildren, have been met with a positive response in Herts County Council's initial consultation.
Earlier this year, Hertfordshire County Council asked residents to have their say plans, which aim to improve journeys through the village by making it more convenient and safer to access local schools, shops and other amenities on foot or by bike.
Residents had four weeks to share their opinions up until Monday, February 27, and the results are out now.

Out of 477 responses, the initial results have shown 85 per cent of people were supportive of improvements to safety for schoolchildren and families across the two locations.
81 per cent supported improvements to make it safer and easier to walk, wheel and cycle in the area.
The scheme is also looking to introduce more crossing points and create a separate cycle lane in order to reduce speed limits.
The safer crossing points were the most popular features of the proposals with 88 per cent support, followed by reducing speed limits with 82 per cent support.
The council will review the feedback and comments on these early proposals and, subject to further funding, will be developing designs before launching a public consultation in early autumn this year, where the public will have the opportunity to comment further on the designs.

Mark Kemp, executive director of environment and transport at Hertfordshire County Council, said: “We’re grateful to everyone who responded to the initial survey and provided their feedback on the proposals.
"Our aim is to make journeys to schools, local shops and amenities safer and easier for the villages of Oaklands and Woolmer Green. The response we’ve received will certainly help us shape the next stage of the project.”
The council has also been working closely with Oaklands Primary School and St Michael's Woolmer Green among other local stakeholders.
