Welwyn Hatfield Labour parliamentary candidate Julian Vaughan has pledged to be the "voice of working people" if he is selected this weekend.
Mr Vaughan is up against Andrew Lewin, Stuart Brady and Hannah McHugh, with party members to select their candidate to challenge Grant Shapps and the Conservatives this Saturday at Welwyn Garden City's Ludwick Centre.
A train driver, Mr Vaughan wants to be the "voice of working people", telling the Welwyn Hatfield Times: "As a working train driver, I understand first-hand the lives of working people and believe I am the best choice to take on and beat Grant Shapps, a politician detached from the lives of the people he represents.
"I have a track record of working across political divides for the benefit of our communities and always adopt a pragmatic approach, rooted in Labour’s values of equality and fairness.

"I believe our communities are enriched when we care for everyone and I always stand up for those that do not have a voice.
"I am immensely proud to be British and of the great institutions we have in this country, including our greatest achievement the NHS.
"I am also proud of the enormous contribution that migrants make to the social fabric of the UK and we should celebrate their contribution to the culture of our country, not demonise them.
