The orange façade of the new Campus West car park in Welwyn Garden City does not breach planning permission, despite concerns from a community group.
Plans submitted appear to show a brown exterior, but orange fins have instead been put on the outside of the car park, with Clive Wilson from the Welwyn Garden City Society claiming it was in breach of planning permission.
"I was alarmed to see the facade being constructed on the Campus West car park," he said.
"It looks like it has included fluorescent orange bands. It has attracted unanimous disapproval with comments ranging from 'sponsored by Easyjet' and 'an amusement arcade'.
"It does not appear to be in accordance with the planning permission."

The Welwyn Hatfield Times contacted Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council over the claims, and following extensive checks by the council, the orange façade is not in breach of the plans.
"Having compared the approved material sample with that used on site, we can confirm that the colour of the sample, and the fins which have been installed, accords with the details that were approved by the Local Planning Authority," said a WHBC spokesman.
The car park is part of the wider WGC 2120 regeneration proposals - funded by a £6.1m Homes England grant - to bring new homes, leisure, retail and community spaces to Welwyn Garden City.
