Offensive and racially aggravated posters have been put up around Welwyn Garden City, with police now appealing for information.
Between 5pm on Saturday, January 28, and 9am on Monday, January 30, posters protesting against the council were put up around the town centre.
The posters were reported to officers over concerns that they contained offensive and racially aggravated images, and have since been taken down.
"The posters have been taken down but they caused huge upset and we are now looking into the incident," said PC Cameron Abraham, investigating.
"The posters were found near Waitrose and the council offices. Were you in the area? Did you see them get put up? Or did you see anyone acting suspiciously?
"If you think you saw something, or if you have other information, please get in touch by calling the non-emergency number 101 or email me at Cameron.Abraham@herts.police.uk quoting crime reference 41/8246/23."
