As the cost-of-living crisis continues to push families to use foodbanks for survival, Hatfield Foodbank expects demand to continue to rise in 2023.
In its latest newsletter, Hatfield Foodbank published its stats as of December 31, 2022.
The stats show that the foodbank has fed over 19,000 people since it opened in 2017.
On average, it now supports over 600 people each month. This is a significant increase from 380 people per month this time last year.

Hatfield Foodbank’s manager Dominic Long said: “The cost-of-living crisis continues to have a huge impact. Many of our clients are coming every week as their situation remains very tough.
“We do all we can to support those in crisis including signposting to other agencies who might be able to help. In addition, we have a Citizens Advice adviser based with us who offers support to those needing it.”
In the last three months, the new service with Citizens Advice has helped over 50 people and more than £3,000 of debt has been written off for individuals, while more than 20 people have moved on from needing foodbank support.
Dominic added: “Sadly, as we head into 2023, we expect the demand for the foodbank to remain high and probably increase further.
“Hatfield Foodbank will continue to be here for those in need, bringing hope and light to dark situations.”
