A driver has been arrested in Potters Bar after nine people were found in the back of a lorry.
On Tuesday afternoon, officers rushed to Cranborne Road after reports that people were in the lorry, with nine found to be travelling inside when they arrived at the scene.
They were all given medical attention by the East of England Ambulance service before being detained.
A man was arrested on suspicion of facilitating illegal entry but has been released while Herts Police continue their investigation, with officer also liaising with the immigration service.
“On the afternoon of Tuesday, December 20, police were made aware that a number of people were travelling inside the back of a lorry,” said a spokesperson from Herts police.
“The lorry was located and stopped in Potters Bar. Nine people were subsequently discovered inside. The individuals were checked over by the ambulance service to ensure their welfare, before being detained.
“A man was also arrested on suspicion of facilitating illegal entry and has been released while enquiries continue.
“The lorry was recovered. Police are liaising with the immigration service as part of ongoing investigations.”
