A Hatfield teenager has penned an inspirational book which has already won multiple Amazon bestseller awards, after overcoming struggles with bullying and suicide.
Lexie Rose Tate, 14, shared her experiences of bullying, attempted suicide, and overcoming situations, in the book entitled Look At Me Now!
The book was released at the start of December and has already become an Amazon bestseller in 15 different categories.
The young author attempted suicide back in January, and her mother Lorraine Tate posted about it on Facebook.
This received a lot of attention and support from the local community and beyond.
SoulSister Wellness, a group based in Wales, contacted Lexie offering her the opportunity to co-write a book that worked through topics and challenges to help improve confidence, resilience and emotional health outcomes.
After 12 months of support from the group, Lexie was able to share her story with the world.
A book launch was held in Wales last weekend, ahead of a second launch on Saturday, December 3, at Hatfield Tennis & Bowls Club.
Speaking about overcoming her struggles through the book, Lexie said: “I think it has helped me get better, knowing that it is helping other people as well. That was my main goal.
“It feels really good, and I am proud of myself and being able to achieve a bestseler, because back in January I felt worthless and there was nothing to life and now I feel like everything is coming into place.”
Some of the 15 categories the book topped in are, Self-help, Bullying, Friendship betrayals, suicide, advice, guidance and many more.
Lorraine said: “Seeing her go through such a low is an unbearable pain that you can’t take away from your child. You feel so helpless.
“But seeing her now and seeing her book come out makes me so proud of her.”
The book was written by 10 teenage girls, all who have been through their own personal traumas and wished to open up about their struggles and let other teenagers know they are not alone.
