A village school hosted a successful visit with gymnastics World medallist, Courtney Tulloch last week.
Tewin Cowper Church of England Primary School held a Sport for Champions event on Thursday, November 17, where the medal winning gymnast attended to inspire the school children.
Courtney attended the school event to talk about his journey as a gymnast and to lead a fitness circuit with the kids.
He talked to the children about his path to becoming a medal winning gymnast and described how he had started off at a young age and how at times he had felt like giving up.
The children were also extremely excited to see his different medals and hear the stories behind them.
The 27-year-old went on to wow the children by performing some jumps and somersaults, including a few demonstrations where he leapt over some of the teachers.
Courtney Tulloch said: ”I love visiting schools and raising the awareness of gymnastics in school and to excite boys into getting involved. I am really excited to be here.”
The children had been sponsored to complete a fitness circuit with Courtney, which they all very enthusiastically accomplished.
They raised over £1,300, which will be shared by the school and the Sports for Champions fund, who arranged the event.
Paul McLaughlin, Year 4 teacher and PE lead said: “It was an amazing afternoon. The children were so excited to meet Courtney and have been watching him in the World Championships in Liverpool. Days like these are what teaching is all about.”
