Ukranian refugees will visit Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council's chamber to mark Parliament Week.
Running from Monday, November 14 to Sunday, November 20, the annual scheme enables members of the public to engage with the democratic system and institutions in the UK.
Councillor Michal Siewniak will host a meeting to connect Ukranian residents with councillors and local democracy on Monday at 10.30am.
Cllr Michal said: “For the last nin years, I have been involved in a wonderful campaign called Parliament Week, which promotes Parliament as a democratic institution. I passionately believe in the ethos and nature of this initiative. I strongly believe that civic empowerment should be at the heart of what our council does. Equally, residents' involvement should drive the council to provide better care and service for our community."
He added: “The meeting between our newly arrived guests from Ukraine, who fled their native country because of the war, will bring them closer to our local democracy, help them understand the way in which our local authority works."
Next weekend, before the campaign finishes, Cllr Michal will also be at the Howard Centre on Saturday, November 19, from 10.15am to 11.15am to talk to residents about their views on parliament.
