Audiences in Potters Bar will be entertained by an award-winning theatre company's production of a hit musical.
Potters Bar Theatre Company brings Kipps - The New Half a Sixpence musical to the stage at Wyllyotts Theatre in November.
This warm musical is an updated version of an old classic based upon the H.G. Wells novel, incorporating new and old songs, including Flash Bang Wallop!, which was made famous by Tommy Steele in the 1967 movie musical Half a Sixpence.
'Kipps' runs from Tuesday, November 8 to Saturday, November 12 with performances at 7.30pm, and a 2.30pm matinee on the Saturday.
Staged by the NODA award-winning Potters Bar Theatre Company, this exuberant musical production brings an enthusiastic cast together to play the many characters in this fun and joyful work.
Arthur Kipps, an orphan brought up by his aunt and uncle in Kent, is an over-worked draper’s assistant at Shalford’s Bazaar in Folkestone.
The year is 1903, an exciting period of change and innovation and when money matters!
Along with his fellow apprentices, Arthur dreams of a better life.
As fate would have it, he unexpectedly inherits a large fortune which then changes the course of his life.
He is propelled into high society but finds himself out of touch and out of his depth.
A PBTC spokesperson said: "With a brilliant score of hit musical numbers, the show takes us through his life journey; solving all-important questions of love, trust, family, friendship and social status.
"Kipps finds himself caught between the love of two women: his childhood sweetheart and an upper-class society lady.
"Which one will he choose and how will he spend his new-found wealth?
"Come along and see us sing, tap and dance our way through this lovely musical packed full of unforgettably famous show tunes including If The Rain's Got to Fall and Flash Bang Wallop!"
Tickets for ‘Kipps’ are available from the Wyllyotts Theatre box office telephone 01707 645005 or online at https://www.tickets.wyllyottstheatre.co.uk/en-GB/shows/kipps/events
