Welwyn Garden City’s clock tower has been lit up red and yellow to celebrate the religious festival of Diwali.
The five-day festival which is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Newar Buddhists, marks new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.
Also known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali began on Saturday and ends on Wednesday.
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council celebrated the festival by lighting the clock tower red and yellow at their office in The Campus, Welwyn Garden City.
“Approximately 4,000 residents in Welwyn Hatfield will be celebrating Diwali today,” read a post on the council’s Twitter.
“To celebrate with you, our clock tower in WGC is shining red and yellow! We wish you all a safe and enjoyable celebration!”
