Jobs could be lost as two charity branches in Hertfordshire merge.
YMCA Central Herts, which is based in Peartree Lane, Welwyn Garden City, and YMCA Watford are to combine to become YMCA Hertfordshire in a move hailed by the charity.
But the two bosses of both current arms could not rule out the “possibility to streamline things”.
The first casualty of the new regime looks certain to be Central Herts chief executive Robin Webb, as the new unified operation will be headed up by Watford chief executive Guy Foxell.
Mr Webb is set to leave his post in the coming weeks.
The WHT spoke to both chief executives last week about the changes.
Mr Foxell said because of the merger “we can better serve our clients and we can have a better influence on the people we serve”.
And Mr Webb said: “We can share really good ideas for the people that we’ve been working with.
“We will have additional capacity [and] we will be taking the cream of our services.”
He added: “At this early stage there are no redundancies planned.”
But he conceded there was a “possibility to streamline things”.
Mr Webb added: “We need everybody to work as hard as they can at the moment.”
Mr Foxell moved to reassure the vulnerable people at the sharp end of what the YMCA does.
“The people that we work with will see more rather than less,” he said. “This is not about making cuts, this is working together to do more.”
