A decision to spend £712,00 on a new Welwyn Hatfield Council chamber looks set to get the green light.
Plans for the borough’s first ever purpose built council chamber took a big step forward last night (Wednesday, 18 November).
The borough council’s cabinet recommended that a final decision to approve the £712,000 budget to complete the fit-out and furnishing of the new chamber is made by full Council at its next meeting on Monday, November 23.
Councillor Alan Franey, deputy leader and executive member for resources, said: “This is set to be the borough’s first ever purpose built council chamber, and it has been designed to meet the needs of residents now and in the future.”
The new chamber is designed to accommodate around one hundred people, including a public gallery. The fit-out work is scheduled for completion in Spring 2016.
